Hayden Panettiere has gone from "hero" to a zero -- defending a convicted murderess.

The small-screen star recently rose to the defense of Amanda Knox, whom she plays in a Lifetime film Feb. 22 that has out raged the family and friends of Meredith Kercher, the roommate Knox and her boyfriend were convicted of killing in Italy, The London Sun reports.

"She's not a malicious girl," said Panettiere, formerly of NBC's "Heroes." "She didn't have any intention to do this. This wasn't an angry or dark girl. I believe in the person that she deep down was."

Of Knox's demeanor in court, she said: "She really tried to be as stoic and as brave as she could against all odds and I do commend her for it."

I don't agree with the article's opinion that Hayden is now a zero but it is kind of a weird statement to make. Maybe if it turns out that Knox was framed then Hayden will sound like a genius.

Well if she killed another girl and was charged guilty....I don't think it's for Hayden to decide on her character.She took another life.If it was in self defense or there were other extenuating circumstances, the court should have recognized that at the time.

I'm sure Ted Bundy was a nice guy to some people..

I think there's some question about how the DA in Rome may have acted illegally with some of the evidence. But that's got to be proven before before I feel sorry for Foxy Knoxy.

Yikes, that would be a whole different slant on the case...

It's the statement - "She didn't have any intention to do this" that caught my eye, implying she did the deed.

I followed some aspects of the case...although Foxy Knoxy may have had some knowledge of what happened, I don't think she was guilty of murder. She was railroaded by the Italian prosecution team (IMO)
