Drugs Colorado State Patrol says stoned driver crashed into 2 Patrol vehicles

By Tom McGhee - The Denver Post

An allegedly stoned driver drove into two Colorado State Patrol vehicles as troopers were investigating a crash on the ramp to Interstate 76 from I-25 on Saturday evening.

No one was hurt in the accident, according to the Patrol.

The accident happened just before 9 p.m. as the troopers' vehicles, with emergency lights flashing, blocked the left lane of the exit ramp.

Keith Kilbey, 23, of Arvada, drove his truck into a CSP Ford Crown Victoria and pushed it into a CSP Dodge Charger.

Kilbey was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. "We believe marijuana," CSP spokeswoman Cpl. Heather Cobler said Sunday.

The troopers' vehicles were blocking the left lane of the exit ramp and emergency lights were flashing. The troopers were not in their vehicles at the time of the crash.

The crash comes just weeks after two patrol vehicles were hit on I-70, east of Aurora, resulting in injuries to one trooper.

"It is unacceptable that troopers and their vehicles continue to be hit on our roadways." said Cobler. "This time we were fortunate, but many officers across the nation are not so lucky."
