TYLENOL. For a broken leg! The doc said he can't give me anything else because I'm pregnant. Thankfully, we have the cell number of my primary care doctor and he met us at his office at 4:30 AM on Christmas Eve to give me a prescription for something a little stronger.
They couldn't put me under for the surgery, so I had a spinal block (the same thing they give women who have c-sections), so I was awake through the surgery. You think hearing the drill at the dentist is bad? My brain was vibrating as they put the screws in. But thankfully, I couldn't feel anything.
3 ambulance rides in 4 days, countless doctor's appointments with my OBGYN, my primary care doctor and the bone specialist, but I'm finally on the mend. I'm off the pain pills and go back to the bone specialist this afternoon for more x-rays. If all looks well, I can start putting 25% of my weight on the bad leg. I am hoping to be a biped again before the baby gets here.
