Paid snow day? What's that??
Unless we get 2+ feet of snow and just don't show up I don't think "snow days" exist for grown ups unless they are teachers.
I work for a small company and we turn good profits so they dont care if they pay an extra day here or there.. Its only 20 of us and we gross like 16 mil.
You guys don't often get much snow there, right?
2-5 times a year maybe..
our mayor came under fire for the pathetic snow removal this year...he cites the same ol same old - not enough money, not enough people, not enough resources
ffs it's snowed for 7 months every year I've lived in this bloody city and of they don't know what's going to happen and prepare??? Bullshit
I'm going to make a plan.
I'll gather 300000 signatures and tell city hall that since they didn't have the resources to remove snow, we don't have the resources to pay our full yearly tax bill (average 2500 bucks)
further he says that he will make make snow tires mandatory to 'alleviate concern'
so we have to pay an extra 1200 bucks for tires...that don't even get you over the 3 foot ice ruts on residential streets????? nice solution you putz
added to my petition is that city hall can pay for all of the lost work time, accident costs and alignments for over 400000 vehicles
I'm not messing around with this one
It's pretty common for us to get 2-6 inches once every week or two that melts the days between. Usually one or two good blasts of 8-18 inches a year. This year is different though, we've been getting snow every 3-5 days and arctic cold in between. There are road salt shortages already and it's only Feb.
We've had record accumulations plus bitter cold temps...mixed with a few warm days (+4C or about 39F)...which has caused some of the worst road conditions I've seen here..
since October, it's never melted....just a constant blanket of white
they'll forecast 1 to 2 cms overnight (about one inch) and half a foot comes down
We love big snows around here because they arent that common.. 3-4 inchers are common, 12+ super rare... But does happen from time to time... Just enough to make you enjoy it...
in other news, it's quite balmy here today finally
about 5C and it feels like summer
the last time we had big snow here, where I used to work, the only fuckers that turned up for work were me, three of the other boys, the wworkshop controller/mega clever diagnostics guy and a couple of managers. Other than one guy that lived up the road, the shortest commute for those of us that turned up was 10 miles.... everyon else that lived local phoned in saying they can't come in cos its snowing
Whats the boiling point in c?
as mentioned before....it gets old for us about the second constant month of cold and shitty driving conditions....it makes you tired, constantly on alert driving and taking 3 hours on a normal 40 minute commute...
if it went away and came back, that wouldn't be so bad...
I can't articulate how dreary, stressful and shitty constant snow and cold temps are....the novelty goes real fast

We got hit last week with 2" then 8" then 3" all within a few days, it's gonna stick around awhile. My street is still snow covered and we haven't had any since Sunday. Today was sunny all day and near the freezing mark so some spots melted a little.
