I got an issue of Men's Health magazine in the mail today, addressed to me using my address. The problem is, I didn't order it. I'm not seeing any pending charges on my credit card, so I guess that's good. I'll just keep an eye on that for a little while. But what the hell? I hope they're not sending me a year's subscription, because if they are, they're not getting paid for it.

I started getting Rolling Stone recently like that, I think they send it for awhile then send you a renewal hoping you give a shit. I havent even read one article in the RS mags I have received
Really? That's an awfully desperate strategy.

A 3rd party from Clearwater, Florida signed me up for this subscription. I'm smelling mail fraud.

Its happened a few times, they must use it as a way to show higher subscription count to increase ad revenue, is all I can think
Apparently, this is how it works. An online transaction is made with some company A and the unwitting non-subscriber (UN). Company A takes UN's info and goes to forwarding company B and tells B to set up a subscription to a certain targeted magazine. Company B gets a kickback from the magazine publisher for every subscription they sign up, and also gets a kickback if UN renews the subscription later when sent a renewal notice. Meanwhile, company B sends company A a kickback as well, giving company A and company B incentive to sign up as many people as possible.
Now here's the infuriating part: UN can't cancel the subscription directly through the magazine's publisher. UN has to contact company B and ask them to cancel the subscription, and if UN really wants to go after the culprit, company B will give UN company A's contact info so UN can go talk to company A.
How this is legal, I have no idea.

There is justice in this world: Fox has canceled American Idol.

They could have picked a better mag. Men's Health sucks.

It was supposed to be a gift. I used a Russian credit card that won't be traced back to you..
