Well that was fun

On Saturday, when I come into work, I always lock the front door after coming in and disarming the alarm just because I don't want anyone to walk in while I'm here. We're officially 'closed' today and we do get walk-ins during the week, and on Saturday I don't deal with that shit. So, I came in, locked the front door, clocked in, and then went into the main office to turn on the network printer and the server PC with the shop software on it. When I went into the office, I head a noise and a little mouse had somehow managed to get into one of the small office trash cans and couldn't get out, so I figured I'd be nice and set him free. So I go back out the front door into the yard out front and let him free, good deed for the day is done. Then I go to come back in the shop and of course.....the door is locked My keys and cell phone are inside the shop on the table where I set them all down when I came in. There are three other doors to the building that can be used to get in, try them all, they're of course all locked. It's a bit on the cold side this morning and I don't have a jacket and I'm slowly starting to worry because it will be a long time before anyone shows up, if they do actually show up (my boss comes to the shop many Saturdays, but not until much later in the morning. And of course this is an industrial area, so nothing else will be open today. I start looking around the front for a hide-a-key as I can't be the only one that's ever done this (my boss loses his keys all the time). I start looking under the rocks in the front area, in the shed, in the mailboxes, everywhere...no key anywhere. There are some small garden tools and there's a small hand trowel that's almost flat and it's pretty narrow. The front door is not the most secure so I figure what the fuck, might as well try it. After about 10 minutes of trying to jimmy the door open, it finally does, and I get back inside. First thing I'm doing after I leave here today is getting a spare key made for the front door and hiding it somewhere outside.

Sorry to hear Lance. I have a similar long story but will spare you...our building was alarmed by ADT and they are the most useless, idiotic security company on the planet. I ended up outside one weekend too and got grilled by a rent a cop after showing him my ID, an employee card and an ADT security card with my name on it ffs....long one short, no dropbox key outside either.
