Why are trucks called a 'semi'? Is it only half a truck?
It has to do with the trailer, which is technically a "semi-trailer": It only has wheels on the rear part of the trailer.

Hmmm
You can't fool me, just because there are no wheels on the front end doesn't make it half a trailer
Aren't they technically "tractors" and not :trucks:
I didn't say it was half a trailer.
The official term is tractor-trailer, the front end driven being the tractor and the rear end attached to the tractor being the trailer. Trailers come as full trailers, with wheels on both the front and rear parts of the trailer, or as semi-trailers, with wheels only on the rear part of the trailers.
One of my Mom's uncles was a truck driver.

So let me guess, you have a trucking license too.
In proper diction, sure, but we're talking industry terminology.
Nope. I rode in a cab once when I was a little kid, and my Mom's uncle told me all about them, most of which I've forgotten, but that's about the extent of my direct experience with tractor trailers.

Is that like Daft Punk?
Always one more
You're never satisfied
It's never "one for all" with you
It's only "one for me"
So why draw the line
and meet you half the way?
When you don't know what that means.
