That's when you step down off of your over water bungalow into some of the clearest water on the planet. Most rooms have little tubs and pools too


It's a strange place though. Muslim is the main religion so outside of the resorts it's against the law to wear a bathing suit (either sex) and to drink in public

The resort rooms average out at around 300-800 per night, yet you can rent a room from the locals for about 30 night. Boat taxis are a dollar per trip all over the islands, yet at the resorts the sea planes are 350 per trip.

And it's south of India in one of the most remote places on the map. Little weird looking south and realizing there is absolutely NOTHING until you hit Antarctica

I've been to The Maldives Hal, Komandoo island, it's absolutely feckin gorgeous! You can walk round the coastline in 10mins if you walk slowly. Also done Antarctica on board The M/S Marco Polo, probably the best/most memorable vacation I've ever had.

That's amazing and cool...are you independently wealthy? The whole environment and set up out there speaks to me somehow. The one resort per island idea and things like little jugs of water to rinse the sand off your feet as you walk between places on your island.

Oh joy. It looks like AMC is in contract negotiations with a national cable collective of small market providers, which includes my provider. My provider, along with the rest of the collective, isn't budging. An agreement has to be made by midnight tonight, or I lose AMC.

Just don't have kids so that helps. Komandoo is a no kids (16 I think) island and all inclusive (booze & food) you do have to pay extra for scuba diving and catamaran hire but the reefs around have magnificent snorkelling which is free if you have your own gear but you can hire on site for very little if you need. I cannot recommend the Maldives more as a magical and romantic (if that's your aim) destination!
