just found out a colleague and friend of mine in the netherlands passed away last night. he had cancer that was out of control and took the option that they have in the netherlands to "got to sleep and not wake up"
i think the netherlands has it right though, being able to have that option on the table for people...

Most of us have seen the final months/weeks of cancer. Couldn't agree more. A few weeks before the end, I might call it quits too if it was an option.
went out for happy hour drinks with people from the lab that knew him tonight to share stories, including a few dutch people that trained in his lab, that's the best way i could think of to honor him from the states today
