Can I board up? Not sure. Am I physically capable? Not really, but I do have the benefit of a couple of good neighbors. If it was necessary, they would help out.
Do I need to? If it was a major hurricane direct hit, it would be an exercise in futility.
I'm close enough to the coastline that the area would get flooded by a surge. My house is wheelchair accessible so it's not very high. The house would get flooded. And I'm surrounded by woods, so high winds would probably knock the shit down on my house. It is a brick house, and it has hurricane straps, so it might stand... but then again, the kind of forces we're talking about.... I might have to sift through the rubble to find something that might have survived.
We'll see what happens. The projections will be constantly updated and I'll know for sure what's up sometime Wednesday morning.
If it stays out at sea, then it more than likely won't be a problem for me. If it hits land early, it'll weaken. If it's a cat 1 or 2, I probably won't bother moving an inch. If I'm facing a cat 3 or higher, I'm gone.
