I have water and supplies and I have gas ($2.70/gallon... motherfuckers). My chargers are being charged, my garmin is fully updated. My gun mags are full. The only thing I don't have is a hotel room booked, but I'll sort that out once I know where this bitch is headed and where I need to go to avoid it. I may just hunker down, but if we're told to evacuate and I can't find any open rooms, I have friends in Atlanta and Tennessee. I may just head out to the Panhandle like I did last year with Matthew. We'll see.
So I'm good, for now.

Ya it was Truman and they think he died in the Mount St. Helens eruption.
My parents were on holidays in Montana when that happened and drove close to it and brought back a plastic baggie full of gray/white ash from the side of the highway.
Looked like coke at first

I already had the oil changed earlier this month. They told me it was fine, but the exhaust system will need to be looked at in a little while. It's making a little noise when I start the car up. But it's nothing detrimental. Maybe a little corrosion in the catalytic converter. It can wait. It's not hurting the car's operation any. I'm good for a little road trip.
I'm gonna wait and see where this thing curves to. If she comes up into Florida like the models have been projecting, I'll head out on Saturday or Sunday. I'll know by Saturday night/Sunday morning. I'll probably have to push out to Alabama or up to Tennessee. It seems everything's booked up, hotel-wise, in Georgia away from the coast. I couldn't find anything in North Georgia. I'll check the hotels in the Panhandle again in a day or so.
The current forecast line has it slamming into the southeastern part of Florida down by Miami, then curving back out to the Atlantic and up into Savannah/South Carolina. If that holds, we'll get some heavy winds and a some flooding. I'm not sure how much flooding, because when Matthew swung by last year, I was in a house closer to the coastline and the ground was barely wet the day after when we got home, and the house was fine. That was ground level. I think the brunt of the surge was taken by the base and the barrier islands. There was a little flooding downtown, but nowhere near where I was. The house I'm in now is supposedly on higher ground and further away from the coast by 10-15 miles.
Regardless, if I have to move, I'll be like Fievel and go west.

And Governor Deal just issued a mandatory evacuation to take place on Saturday for all coastal counties one hour ago. That includes me.
Guess I should get ready to skedaddle.
