I'm getting tired of this horseshit. They're athletes, i.e. entertainers, in a business organization designed to entertain a paying public by playing a game. They have the opportunity to make millions of dollars for playing this game because of this country. They can't do this anywhere else. And we don't watch this game for a fucking political demonstration, we watch to see them play a game. If the owners, managers, and players want to inject a bullshit political demonstration, then I don't want to fucking watch. I don't like seeing people disrespect my country, but I support their right to free speech. However, I don't have to stick around and watch them disrespect my country. You want me to watch you play? Then shut the fuck up and play the fucking game. Bite your fucking tongue and stand for the national anthem of the nation that gives you the opportunity to make millions of dollars for playing a fucking game, or you'll stop getting my attention and money. You want my money? Shut the fuck up and dance for me, monkey boy. The powers that be of the NFL should realize that this is hurting their brand, and they should take a hardline stance against it, or they just might start losing patrons. And fuck Colin Kaepernick. He's not employed because he sucks, not because he's black and stupid. He had one good year, and then his performance tanked. Any QB would have been kicked to the curb under the same circumstances. If he gets back to playing better, then I'm sure that the powers that be will be interested in rehiring him. But I doubt it, because all he wants to do is double down on his idiotic bullshit rather than focus on becoming a better player.

Please stop saying these are constitutionally protected actions. They are not. They do not have constitutional rights at work. They have the rights afforded them by labor law, the union contract, and employer rules. Period.

As a sentiment, however, I agree wholeheartedly. We watch sports to give us a break from the harsh realities of life. Overlapping the two makes being a sports fan meaningless.

If the employer is supporting their actions then the employer is giving them the right to do it. If they're not telling them to stop what they're doing, then they're supporting their actions. The NFL and the owners are not stopping them. They're not threatening to fine them or fire them. Some of the owners have come out publicly in support of them. Thus the employment angle doesn't exactly apply here.

I don't disagree that they are supporting it, but that doesn't make it a constitutionally protected act. That makes it an employer allowed act, which means our issue is with the teams and the league. There's your reason to boycott.

The owners are afraid of what all the armchair judges on facebook court will do to them..

I think they are afraid that not letting the players decide will cause a distracted team. But the history has been that players' protests cause the distraction. Not the other way around.

The Steelers had a 30 minute player-only argument about it? really? Why weren't they focused on the game?
