Well, it's been 3 weeks and a day since we lost Bullet because of his behavior problems which I posted about in this thread. The wife has been really upset since we had to put him down and still partially blames herself even though it is not even remotely her fault. We've been visiting the local animal shelters just to look and visit with some of the animals, but she has really wanted a new dog to replace the hole that exists without Bullet in the family. So, just on random chance we visited a shelter on Saturday and there was a 6 month old puppy that had just come in the day before. He was a stray and had been on a hold while they tried to see if someone had lost him. He wasn't chipped or anything, so unless someone came forward looking for a lost puppy, he was going to be put up for adoption. That day ended up being the day before our shelter visit. The wife and the kid fell in love with him almost immediately. And I have to admit, he's pretty damn cute. So, we spent about 30 minutes with the puppy in the 'meet and greet' pen at the shelter debating about getting another dog. I could tell she had her heart set on it, so I told her if it's what she wanted, then we should get him.
So, we got him
The shelter had named him Hank (
) so when we got him home, we decided to change his name since he hadn't learned Hank yet anyway. We figured since we already had Thor, we'd name this little bundle of energy Loki.
We don't know how big he will get, the shelter thinks he's a lab mix. He's 30 lbs right now, so if he's more lab than whatever he's mixed with, he will probably be a medium sized dog. He's super sweet and bonus, already housebroken. No accidents yet in the house or in his crate overnight (keeping him crated at night until we can trust him with free roam of the house).
