She has amazing talent. Don't know why she does all the weird get ups because she doesn't need it. She's great.

Gas company guy is here now, checking things out.
I have to stop playing gerbil videos
Well, he's not going to red tag it and shut off the gas. Good, because it's about -24 outside right now
55 year old furnace is in good shape, no problems at all.
thanks Dad

That "warble" you hear I think is auto-tune. I sometimes can make it out on recordings but my daughter can spot it a mile away.
I can plonk away on a guitar OK, but she's got her own Jazz combo group, plays drums and tenor sax for the high school Jazz band and is doing percussion for the school play. And does not listen to anyone you've ever heard of! (Well, she does venture into rock territory by being an Artic Monkeys fan).

Oh absolutely, it's just fun to do once in a while. When it's half off, it was $33 for 3 meals for 2, so about $5/person per meal for a really nice home cooked dinner with recipes I haven't tried before. Full price is about $11/person per meal so definitely not cost effective, but still a nice change up for the week if you don't mind the extra money. My wife and I are DINK's right now so until we have kids we can do shit like this

There's no way I would have deciphered that acronym. I think of GF and "kids" doesn't even enter into my mind, unless I'm using "kid" to refer to GF himself. It still blows me away that he's a married professional. And I mean that in the best possible way, btw.

DINK is an old one along with Yuppie (young urban professional). The new one for millennials is HENRY: High Earner Not Rich Yet.
Found a few funny ones
DINKWAD: Double income no kids with a dog
SITCOM: Single income, two kids, oppressive mortgage
SINBAD: Single income, no boyfriend and desparate
KIPPERS: Kids in parents pockets eroding retirement savings

I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.
Years ago I was here alone and it was a very cold winter night. Around -36C . The house was getting colder and the temperature inside dropped to about 10C. I could see the flames working in the furnace and the pilot light was lit, but it wouldn't circulate heat. Problem was the motor within the furnace that circulates the heat through the ducts.
To answer your question you call a furnace repair company. They show up at 3 am and rape you with after hours service call rates while they fix your furnace. If the situation is really bad, companies come in and replace your furnace for thousands of dollars.
Luckily we have a city gas company that will do inspections for free and advise possible courses of action. They won't fix your furnace, but will 'red tag it' if something is dangerously wrong like if it's leaking carbon monoxide. The city guy came before the commercial guy that night, told me what was wrong, what to tell the commercial guy and what to watch out for in terms of how the commercial guy would treat me. The city guy was correct with his predictions about how the commercial guy treated me. They try to stretch the service call out as long as possible because they have you by the balls in those situations. Both guys advised me not to go to sleep because it was so cold outside and the temp in the house would keep dropping if I didn't address the problem. It was a Tuesday night and I had to work the next day = pay the after hours service charges to get it fixed. I appreciate what homeless people go through sleeping outside. I was in an insulated home with no heat and it was getting uncomfortable. I could have gone to a hotel, but the furnace needed to be fixed so I just bundled up with winter clothing indoors.
Once I saw what the guy actually did (hooked up a new 1/2 horsepower motor and connected one ground wire) I was really embarrassed. But I couldn't have got a new motor anywhere that night and didn't know how to troubleshoot the problem as the furnace seemed to be running and kicking in every time I adjusted the thermostat.
