So wait for the shoe to drop, and when the market drops, invest in proven winners that will bounce back. Become an instant millionaire on the upswing, and then send me some money for my sage wisdom and advice.

If you're new to it, I'd consider Exchange Traded Funds. If you haven't bought them before, they're similar to mutual funds but much lower management fees. Say you're interested in getting a decent spread of the top 50 or 100 cap companies in your market or the NASDAQ or whatever as a safe investment? There are EFT's for that (and just playing the indexes is what Buffet strongly suggests anyways). Or say you're interested in some of your money being a bit more aggressively invested - maybe you're super interested in mining juniors, or Canadian medical marijuana companies (it's bitcoin 2.0 here right now except I'm staying away ) - there's an EFT for that too, packed with the top stocks from that sector picked by professional companies like iShares or Vanguard and again with much lower management fees than mutual funds.

If you want to just pick your favorite stocks that's great, but EFT's are a very solid way to spread your money out and far less time consuming. It's much easier to research one EFT, pick a few sectors and buy them like you would a traditional stock.

Ya that's a good point. When I was in college I took a course strictly about the political spectrum and we talked a fair bit about how huge the difference is between classical and neo-liberalism as it was first described by earlier philosophers, with what people now commonly call 'Liberals' with a capital L Same with conservationism.

There's a name for that principal or phenomena or whatever you call it, can't find the name right now. You send an email/text and then immediately see the typos when you read it back. Happens to me aaaall the time.

This fucking storm is not coming down here. I forbid it. I'm sorry for all of the people that are going to be effected by this storm, but I will NOT be one of them.

Fingers crossed for you buddy. I read a report today that Muddy might be ok in Virginia as a high pressure system could prevent the storm from pushing his direction, but who knows I guess. Hope it stalls and fizzles over the ocean but it's looking serious.

Governor Deal has declared a state of emergency for all counties in Georgia. Funny, the current projected path misses my county. I guess I gotta keep watching.

We're about to vote on proportional representation in my province... I'm not sure what to do. I took a course with a prof who was a strong advocate for it, he literally wrote the book on the case for our province and made a great case which at the time which I thought I supported... but that was a decade ago.

Now I'm looking at what happens in Europe when a country like Sweden elect a wack of different parties and nobody can form a government. I'd rather have one party win a majority and actually be able to run government, rather than everyone being represented more equally by weird splinter parties that really just represent one top-of-mind topic for subsets of voters... and then end up with unstable party coalitions Canada has an electoral system that's not perfect but well respected, case and point is that we've often been chosen as the ones chosen to help shitty young democracies set up their electoral systems. I'm weary of tinkering with it, even if the current provincial and federal parties in power aren't my first choice.
