There's no way to be completely prepared for a monster storm like this. That's why you get the hell out when the officials tell you to. I always say that I won't move if it's a Cat2 or less. This thing made landfall on the Florida Gulf coast as a Cat4, very close to a Cat5. That is scary. The images and video they're showing on the weather channel is devastation.

My area is nowhere near where the eyewall made landfall and we're getting touched by the very tips of the outer bands. We just got a tornado warning because of it. Yeah, this thing is freakin' huge.

You know the drill. Trust your gut on the margin and go if they say go.

Michael made landfall as a catastrophic, unprecedented Category 4 hurricane on the Florida Panhandle early Wednesday afternoon. Destructive winds will down trees and cause more extensive power outages across the Southeastern coast into Thursday.

Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, around 12:30 p.m. CDT Wednesday with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph and a minimum central pressure of 919 millibars.

It was the first Category 4 or stronger hurricane to make landfall on the Florida Panhandle.

Michael arrived in southwestern Georgia early Wednesday evening as a Category 3 major hurricane, the first hurricane of that strength to track into Georgia since the Georgia Hurricane of 1898, according to Dr. Phil Klotzbach, tropical scientist at Colorado State University.
