So we have the discussion and she does it anyways after I bring up the rack.

Note, the wooden clothes rack is right OVER a heat register. Way to go Sparky

Look I'm super fortunate to be living in a place with a washer and dryer. So USE THE DRYER YOU TOOL!

Deep breaths my dude. My in-laws drove me fucking booonkers over Christmas this year too.

My new year's resolution again this year is not to get in stupid arguments.

Again? I take it that it didn't work out the first time (or past 20 times) you tried it. It's an impossible resolution. 99% of the time, you don't realize you were in one until the day after. They just suck you in, man.

Meh, I'll keep trying to improve. I've actually had friends tell me I'm far less argumentative than I was when I was younger and I take that as a compliment

I'm actually reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life. Highly recommend it.

I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.

I was at the 7-11 4 blocks from the apartment, when the police cars starting flying up the road. When I saw 3 different jurisdictions, I said "that's not good... probably that fucking mall again"

Yup. 12 jurisdictions responded to the law enforcement emergency alarm. Large flash mobs of "unattended juveniles" descended on the mall to cause disruptions and fight. They closed the mall, police moved everyone out and posted at all entrances. The mobs moved further east. 7 additional businesses closed with many more posting guards to restrict access.

That's the same town, 2 miles east of us.

Good advice, thanks GF. I wouldn't ever do anything to them...only because I've put my displeasure in print beforehand

I don't live in a big city. I am near a big city, yes, but I am in the suburbs. But that mall and the Walmart do draw from one of the worst neighborhoods in the city, so yes, the city creeps out to near me sometimes.

I go the JCP store occasionally, but otherwise steer clear.

I used to be fearless and then got old. One night years ago I was sitting in my car getting high and the car was turned off. I saw a group of kids walking up the block about 100 yards away. One had a bat and was taking swings at cars, hitting mirrors, windshields and headlights.

There was a time I would have got out of my car and challenged them. That night I turned on my car (which startled them and the bat was hidden) and I drove home and called the cops. I gave them the street name and direction the kids were walking.

I knew I had crossed a boundary in my life that night

I go back and forth. I have definitely become more cautious, but I have my moments, especially when it comes to family.

I've been through a few things, told some of the stories here. Yeah I tend to see red when people are in trouble and think about the risk/reward after it's over.

Already relayed this. One night in the park behind my house a guy was smacking a girl hard enough for me to hear it. I went out and challenged him, he was drunk, I smacked him around pretty good and he didn't touch me (it was like punching out a blind man). Gave the chick a ride home and cleaned her up a bit. She didn't want to go to the hospital and then started crying on the way home. Said she was mad at herself for staying with that asshole.

I felt pretty good after, other than my scraped up knuckles

Ya man, try to get near my family and I'll pick up the nearest heavy object and introduce you to it.
