I think the lightbulb industry creates intentionally confusing and endless combinations of bulb types, bases, and wattages to confused consumers into buying the wrong bulbs. Down with big lightbulb!

So I've got this light fixture in my entry way. The base says '40 Watts Type G, 120V 60hz' and that's about it. I dont have any paperwork from the fixture, the bulbs themselves don't say. I'm on a lightbulb website right now are there 18 fucking types of Type G bulbs with random numbers ranging from G3.5 to G30. I'm going to hang myself from this fixture.
I was in the same spot. My parents have this old track lighting in their kitchen. Pretty cool actually as each light pot can be removed and there's no wires or connectors.
But hells bells I had to go to a bulb website that had bulb silhouettes and try to match their cool 1979 track lighting bulbs to the current LED counterpart. I felt like I was picking a suspect out of a line up.
I still have the light pot on the dining room table because I hear 2 out of 3 ain't bad
I'll pretend I understand that reference
G type miniature bulbs are found in many applications including: auto indicator and instrument, aircraft and marine. The number after the 'G' is the diameter of the glass in 1/8 inch increments. A G5 bulb, for example, has a diameter of 5/8 of an inch.
