I'm also lucky because I grew up in Vermont and learned how to drive in that state. Winter isn't a novelty there like it seems to be here. In Colorado, a good share of the snow is contained by the mountains and we don't see nearly as much snow in Denver as people think. A lot of people here, even the younger natives, never have to deal with this kind of weather and they are the ones that make driving dangerous.
You either have the California transplant driving a 4WD SUV that they think makes them invincible (you won't believe just how many 4WD SUV's you see off the road in bad weather here), or you have the transplant from some warmer weather state driving their little car going 10 mph down the middle of the interstate with their 4 ways on. They are the ones that are almost more dangerous than the ones speeding in bad weather.
