I get up a little before my wife, usually 6:00-6:30, sometimes earlier. I check the weather, clear the walk and drive as needed, start her car if it's cold. We have a smoke together and I wave goodbye. I come in, finish any dishes, do laundry, take her work clothes to the dry cleaners. I look for work both for a job job and my driving work. I work two shifts when I can, and find a time to get groceries. If I work a second shift, I am usually home later then her. I get home, make dinner, clean up after. She tells me about her day, her stress level and how she can't keep working 12 hour days. I listen attentively. We watch some TV, she goes to bed because she's tired from her long day. I stay up a little longer. Rinse repeat.
It occurred to me this morning that I live in a gender reversed 1970's household. I would say 50's but I have to work, so we need to move that up a bit...
(none of this is a complaint, just a factual realization)
