Going well and I like my coworkers which helps. But there's a lot of sick and dangerous people there...

So I will give the same answer a new PRN hire gave when I asked her.
"Does this make you more interested or more scared?"
"More interested AND more scared," she replied.
    "That's fair"...

You've been given a company car? I didn't know that was even a thing any more. What a HUGE perk.

Wouldn't it make more sense to give cars to people who need a car for their job and can't afford one? What sense does it it make to give an executive a car to drive to the office? But I digress.
No it's not just an executive car, my new role will be on the road a lot, part of the expectation is doing a lot of b2b type stuff. I'll have tons of road trips over to Vancouver Island and the Interior for meetings. I'll also be driving my underwriters around a fair bit, taking them to their assigned brokers for meet-and-greets and training. It's standard to give managers in the industry in my kind of 'marketing manager' role cars.

I'll be away from home a lot more. Also on days where you just drive to-and-from the office and don't have any off-site meetings to justify driving it that day, you have to personally pay that back (deducting it from your expenses). You're also not allowed to take it on personal road trips, so I'm glad my wife still has a car.

Don't get me wrong though... this is the perk of all perks. The parking pass downtown they get us is like $400 a month alone. No more bus for me, and I feel a bit guilty/undeserving of it. Still going to miss my little mazda though

It sucked, started out okay at first, but then after a couple of hours the skies opened up and the rains came. And this was already after someone in one of the lower classes dumped all their oil on the track requiring about a 35 minute cleanup. So after 45 minutes of rain we decided to call it. Didn't even get to see any of the nitro cars run But if we would have stayed we would have been there all freaking night since there was more rain on the way and no guarantee that we still would have seen much because to dry the track they have to wait until the rain COMPLETELY stops and drying the track and laying down a new layer of rubber takes from 30 to 45 minutes.

I was checking out on my audio book app (buying extra book credits) when the Honey browser extension popped up and said they have coupon codes. Okay, try away, Honey.

It hit on a $6 discount code for a $30 purchase!

Probably going to have to put one of our cats down today. He's not been eating for the last 3 or 4 days and seems to have been puking a lot lately and he's awfully lethargic. He's a shelter cat I adopted way back, so best guess is he's around 17 or 18 years old, but that doesn't make it any easier. The wife is taking him into the vet this morning to see what they think, but if he's not doing well, we want to make sure we do the humane thing for him, we don't want him to suffer at all.

Sad to hear Lance. I think 17 or 18 is a long life for a cat?

Yeah, it actually quite old. But what makes it a little worse is, it was my dad's cat, so it feels like it's just another little piece of him going away.

Wife is actually at the vet right now, so just waiting to hear what they say.

I think the Dad connection is a normal thing I feel bad when I throw something away my Dad used to have or something he bought.

And the other thing is, and this will sound awful, but what kind of money are we wanting to spend on an 18 year old cat in failing health? If they want to run tests and all kinds of things, it can run into the hundreds of dollars quickly and in the end we still might end up needing to put him down. I dunno what to do.
