It's not that bad We have 12 now, you guys have 10 (or do you guys take 2 for Thanksgiving? In which case you're at 11).

Is that even legal? It looks like there are 7-8 Federal holidays, do those not apply if you work at a private corp?
Yep, always 6 paid everywhere I ever worked. Aside from my current job where I get zero paid holidays.

When you do things right, people are never sure that you've done anything at all.

They're making a really hard push for red flag laws and gun bans. This is gonna be bad.

It's like that up here. When I worked for a large oil company we got every one off. Other employers may ask you to come in and typically pay you OT for it.
Some of our stat holidays up here are particular to only certain provinces like yesterday which was Heritage Day. Not all provinces observe it.

I think the most holidays I've ever gotten off was 7. The place I worked at in Vermont gave us the basic 6 off that Pony mentioned (New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) and we also got Good Friday off, but only because the owner of the company was a VERY staunch Catholic, so we got that extra day off.
We do some weird hostage exchange holiday crap. Like in the past typically a company would give you a half day off for Christmas Eve and New Years eve. Then someone in our province said we will give you Family Day in February in lieu of those two half days.
It gets strange as some some provinces observe things like Family and Heritage Day and some have other days we don't get. Like Quebec. They seem to be a different planet at times.
I think all provinces should follow the same template for holidays, rules, laws etc. You lose your national identity I think when things vary like that.
You get the same thing down here. Some states have their very own holidays and some employers in that state will give you the day off. Unless you work for the government (like my wife) and then you tend to get every conceivable state and Federal holiday off. And some that I am sure are made up as well.
