Agreed on all counts.

After some back and forth, we are totally going on this weekend. We changed the whatsapp group name from 'G's Stag' to 'Boys Weekend.' Hard part now is that he still doesn't know about it... it was supposed to be a surprise. We'll give him a few days to process, then broach the subject gently. I really hope he still feels up to coming. We'll dial back the party and just have a chill weekend if that's what he needs, but I think the deposit was $3000 on this house we rented and it's non-refundable now... so we are fucking going.

Three separate shooting in Denver metro this morning. It's starting to feel like West Chicago sometimes.

We have next to nothing in terms of shootings here but when they do happen I've been surprised to see the news people always blame immigrants/say they're gang related.

The incidents are almost always one car pulling up somewhere and shooting at another, or more recent events have been random gunshots into houses. We don't get many mass public shootings at schools, malls etc so I can see how they tend to limit the responsibility to certain groups.

Just from a cursory glance at the parts of the city they occured in last night, it would be safe to say that the three shootings this morning were more than likely drug and/or gang related. It's starting to get bad here in that respect.

Most of ours are similar. We had a guy shoot a football player in a nightclub over a dispute but no real crazypants fuckups spraying public areas randomly.

We have had a group beating that led to a death and a party stabbing that led to deaths. The party stabber killed five people. He showed up late, didn't give any indication he was disturbed and then went around killing young people. He was a crazypants fuckup for sure.

There's a lot of gangs moving up here, and not to sound racist, but there's an influx of blacks in the city and they don't get along with the Mexicans that are already here and still coming here, so there's turf wars and a lot more gang and drug activity the last few years, more than there's ever been.

It's true, 10+ years ago Denver was the perfect medium sized city. It was safe, there were tons of things to do, and it was affordable. Now, comparatively speaking, there's all kinds of gangs and drug issues, the city is WAAAAAY overcrowded, you can't even go up into the mountains anymore without running into a thousand other people up there, and it's so damn expensive to live here any more. Between me and my wife we make pretty decent money, but we don't have much for disposable income at all because of the cost of living here.

Sorry. Election season's ramping up. I have to listen to the Democratic candidates and they piss me off.
