We had to go most of the month of June if I'm remembering correctly. The 28th always comes to mind as the last day.
Of course we were spinning like tops for the last two weeks before summer break so there wasn't much real school at school during that time
School started up down here in my county in Georgia on August 2nd.
I think the northern part of the state started last week.

It's ridiculous how it starts so early now. And it's not like the kids are going to school more than we did, there's just a shit ton of days off during the whole year now. Seems like my kid has at least one day off every other week for some bullshit.

Yeah, I'm looking at the official calendar and they've got Labor Day, a Fall break (2 days) around Columbus Day (not Indigenous People's Day down here), Veteran's Day in November, then Thanksgiving break (full week), then they get out on the 18th of December for Christmas and go back January 2nd. Off on January 20th for MLK Jr Bday, off Feb 13 - 18 for some nonspecific student/teacher holiday centered around President's Day, Spring Break from April 6th - 10th (with weekends, they're done on the 4th and they return on the 13th), then they get out for the summer on May 22nd, if and only if there are no days off for hurricanes. If school gets canceled during the year for hurricanes, those days have to be made up and they're tacked on at the end of the school year.

Same here. The end of August was always a melancholy time for me because school was going to start and that carried on into my adult life. For work I always booked the last two weeks of August off for holidays.
