And now the ATP (tennis) has suspended the men's professional tour for 6 weeks.
I cancelled the LA half of our trip next week, half the stuff we want to do will probably be cancelled/closed. Still have a hotel booked in Palm Springs for 4 nights the 18-21 but I'm thinking we pull the plug on that too. I'm not worried about getting sick much, I just don't want to get quarantined far from home, or get there and suddenly have all the restaurants close or something Sucks because my wife can't re-book vacation with her work... and she needs it.

That really sucks, but it's better to err on the side of caution at this point. Can you do some kind of mini-vacation close to home? Or just a "staycation" kinda thing. I mean even if you just drive to the next town over or somewhere just outside the city for a few days, it will be better than nothing and you would get some R&R out of it.
Reporting now that MLB is suspending operations as well.
NASCAR has announced that they are planning on going forward with the next two races (Atlanta and Miami) but they will not allow fans into the races.

Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.
In terms of infections and deaths, H1N1 was far worse and there wasn't this kind of panic. Oh wait, That's because Barry was in office and the press wasn't trying to get the whole country worked up.

From the CDC:
From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.
And that was just in the United States.
This panic isn't just in the US so I don't know you can blame this all on Obama vs Trump mentality personally - we're in the opposite boat with a more liberal gov. now than then, and it doesn't seem to matter, they're still blaming our guy here
I also think you're comparing an entire year of H1N1 flu data against COVID-19 which is only a couple weeks in within the US, so I don't know that's fair either. Also if we take action now more than in 2009 it's going to be hard to fairly say 'look this wasn't as bad by the numbers' if our response was far more proactive.
But panic is definitely different this time, I agree... how many millions of people have twitter now vs 2009? I'm sure social media is one of the huge differences and a driving factor.
