My landlord never gives tenants a lease unless we ask for one. His son does them. So every year for the last 6 years I have asked for a lease. And for 6 years, I have made changes and addendums that I have made him initial, mostly because the lease specifies we have to have written permission for our cat.

So this year the son must have gotten tired of my changes. For the first time, the lease says "lessor acknowledges permission for one cat".

Winning. So much winning. Unbelievable amount of winning like you've never seen before.

What's wrong with that? He did, they tentatively agreed, thus oil has already gone back up some, which is a good thing mind you.

TDS has no rational explanation I'm afraid.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. It's just like something out of an operatic aria...

But since you're in the oil business can you or anyone else here explain how a higher oil price benefits Americans (I don't see it benefiting Australians)

A typical view in the media would be something like the following:

"So how did he respond to the worst weekly unemployment claims in American history? By changing the subject to the oil industry, suggesting that the Saudis and Russians might just be cutting production. As he bizarrely tweeted to a shell-shocked nation, “If it happens, will be GREAT for the oil & gas industry.”

Only this sociopath of a president could imagine that what’s good for the oil industry is good for the souls of 10 million newly unemployed Americans."

    My understanding...

The US is the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world. But unlike say the Russians and the Saudis, our production is not state controlled, it's all private (sans the strategic reserve). If the market gets too low (e.g. Saudis flood the supply to create price wars, international demand artificially low in a crisis or war, etc) US oil production become unprofitable and operations quickly scale back. That's what Kevin was describing.

So the Saudis cutting production now keeps US production working. I believe it's about 10 million jobs and about 5% of GDP?

Someone else may know more.... but that's the rest of the story as I know it....

Lost, RBP is mostly correct. My point was not to support high oil prices in general, but right now. Drilling companies work for lease owners . The rigs are rented by the companies (contracted for $x per day). Bottom line is, in the US, if oil goes below about $30/barrel, most drilling stops. If it stays below that, all drilling stop. If all drilling in the US stops, there will be a national recession. Fact, not opinion. Global effect will be substantial. All that said, theres also the fact that if the US stops drilling, world demand put more $$ into China, Russia, OPEC, etc. All pretty much our enemies.
So, my post was not in support of higher prices in general, but in supp8of above $30/ barrel. Ideally, 40-50/ barrel is great. This range provides a healthy profit, allows for research and development, new practices, etc, etc.

I believe his response is correct. It's my opinion that he recognizes the inherent danger to our economy of a price war, and is proactively doing what he can to prevent it.
As for Trump himself, I dislike him. Always have, even back when he was a citizen, and fully supporting the DNC. Hes an asshat, granted, but sociopathic? No, hes very intelligent.

I think that's pretty much the same everywhere. You still can't find anything like that here unless you hit the stores as soon as they happen to stock those items. It's completely ridiculous, it's been weeks and STILL certain things are nearly impossible to come by.

And now Gay Governor Jared is recommending that Coloradans wear masks when we go out on public. Plus, since I guess his daily pressers aren't enough, he's going to address the state in a prime time speech on Monday night. Hopefully to stoke more fear up because what we need more of, is winding people up and raising their anxiety levels.
