Why is it every time something #metoo comes up, they always say the woman should be allowed to say "her truth"? Shouldn't it be THE truth?

Probably going to be around 35% unless they stop with the Nazi treatment of everyone.

But oh lord, do NOT bring up the peril of economic collapse to a COVID purist. It does not end well.

Me: "I don't know how you balance it. The total deaths are not even at annual flu levels yet"
Other: "So you're going to make the 'this is flu' argument?"
Me: "Not the point. But we can't ignore the impacts of the economics. Cardiac ER visits are down 50%. There's a piper to pay. DV calls are up 50%, plus suicide, addiction, food scarcity, the impact is scary"
Other: "Those sound like Fox News talking points"

I heard on a podcast the other day something that really made me think. Will this whole lock down be worth it? The politicians in favor of strict lock downs like de Blasio and Cuomo in New York always say '...but if it saves just one life it's worth it.' But in reality, this will never stop the spread of the disease, it's the new reality in the world. Did this REALLY save any lives or did it just postpone the inevitable?
That's the debate. Some yes, like my mom never leaving the house or seeing anyone in person. BUT, in general, that was never the intent. It was only to extend it and not overwhelm the hospitals. That ship has sailed. The extra capacity ended up never being needed. We wasted billions on bad estimates and models. Maybe that's okay, but stop acting like the scenario hasn't changed because it has.

Punch-up pretty: Not quite girl-next-door pretty. Average but attractive enough to be the standout in a sea of ugly women. Somewhat easy to become enamored with when no real competition is around. When a legitimately pretty girl walks in the room, punch-up pretty immediately becomes second place, the backup plan. If a drop dead gorgeous woman walks into a room, punch-up pretty becomes "Who?".

I don't know why, but ^^^^ cracked me up.

Yeah, you can't win with those people. There are so many people just freaked out over this whole thing that you will never convince them that we need to get back to normal. You just have to point blank ask them, how long are we supposed to be locked up? And see what they say.

Yeah, the same with the wife's parents, they are in their 70's and would rarely be okay to venture out, especially during the virus season (if this indeed ends up being seasonal). But at that age, they are already susceptible to do many things and for them the regular flu could be every bit as deadly as the Kung Flu.

Like I said, I don't think this lock down saved one single person, all it did was postpone the inevitable.

Ordered on the 21st and it's still not here. I don't know dude, given that it was sent through the USPS, I'm thinking it's just not gonna get here. Funny, I can get used books that I ordered faster than a greeting card through USPS. There's only so much I can blame on this Covid horseshit. I've been through this rodeo with the USPS several times before over the years. In each case, it didn't end well.
