I forgot that sports betting had become legal in Colorado. Every other ad on the local podcasts I listen to are all from Draft Kings for their sports book.
Ok, look: I'm sorry the guy died, and yes the officers that killed him should be brought up on charges and convicted, but what the fuck does burning down local businesses have to do with this? It's not business owners' faults that this happened. It's the few stupid police officers, especially the one who put his entire body weight down on the guy's neck that killed him.

2.1 million new unemployment claims in the US, bringing the total to approximately 41 million.
NASA has a program to send a probe to Alpha Centauri, with a tentative launch date by 2069. It will theoretically take a probe 100 years to get there. While incredibly exciting, I'm sad that I might not live to even see the launch.

Makes me think about the thing that has always been said about interstellar probes/missions like that. By the time that probe gets to Alpha Centauri, will technology on earth have progressed far enough that we will have built something in the ensuing 100 years that would beat the original probe there?
Good news. they've got the journey down to 44 years

nanoprobes" would take only 20 years to get to Alpha Centauri, at least the ones that survive (a dust particle along the way would be fatal). As each zips through the system, a tiny camera and atmosphere analyzer are to grab pictures and data on any planets there. Then — hold on now — it would transmit this data the 4.4 light-years back to Earth using a "compact laser." The total mass of each probe, including power supply, camera, sensors, processors, fine-navigation thrusters, and that amazing transmitter, is to be just a few grams.
The laser array would boost this delicate snowflake of a thing out of Earth orbit with an acceleration of 25,000 gs, delivering the force to a lightsail purely as radiation pressure. It will have to do this without vaporizing the lightsail and the probe, which will have to be incredibly super-reflective. Such intense power is required to push the probe to its cruising speed in just two minutes, before it gets beyond good laser range. The lasers would then take a day to recharge their batteries (from a dedicated power plant), before sending off the next probe, and the next.
We do not propose any rules; we offer observations. "No right on red" is a rule. "Driving at high speed toward a brick wall usually ends badly" is an observation.

Damn I'm a dirty old man. At least shes 23. Been watching a netflix show called "Daybreak" its decent, but the female lead is exactly the type of girl that would have made me stupefied when I was young.
