True. But I believe there was a bit of politics played by both sides.

Personally, I believe all Supreme Court nominees should be dedicated to uphold the letter of the Constitution and the Amendments as written, but we can't have that kind of crazy talk in this day and age, now can we?
Ideally, yes. Are the votes of the supreme judges tallied? Has there been any pattern of partisan voting over the years?

For the most part, it was often a non-partisan issue and lot's of Justices were confirmed easily. Even 2 of the 3 Justices that Obama nominated got through fairly easily. But more recently with Trump, it has become a VERY partisan and contentious issue.

Not ideally, that's the way it works. In this day and age, it is a completely partisan process. The controlling party majority of the Senate has the final say. You don't get much more partisan than that. The votes are cast and tallied on the floor of the Senate. Aye or Nay. Same day. Cast and counted in alphabetical order by last name. Majority vote (there are only 100 Senators), and you can thank Harry Reid and the Democrats for that. It used to be a 2/3 majority, then in '75 they changed it to a 3/5 supermajority. Retired Democratic Senator Harry Reid invoked the "nuclear option" back when he was in office under Obama, and that's been the rule ever since. And the Democrats cry about it every time the Republicans use it.

Parked my truck this morning and heard a VERY loud hooting and saw this guy on top of a telephone pole in front of the shop. He watched me the whole time I was walking to the front door. That's one big owl.

You may bury me with an enemy in Mount Calvary
You can stack me on a pyre and soak me down with whiskey
Roast me to a blackened crisp and throw me in a pile
I could really give a shit - I'm going out in style

You can take my urn to Fenway spread my ashes all about
Or you can bring me down to Wolly Beach
    And dump the sucker out
Burn me to a rotten crisp and toast me for a while
I could really give a shit, I'm going out in style

Man, the hits just keep coming. We just got home and found the fridge is dead. Wife and kiddo had came out to Odessa to visit with me Sunday. This pos has done this 3 times now. I'm supposed to be on a rig south of San Antonio in the am. Called and they're okay with me getting there in the afternoon. Guess I get to go fridge shopping in am. So much for the go fast money I've been putting aside for the Camaro.
