It's been almost 3 months and there are definitely some days that I really don't feel like exercising, especially during the week after work, but I make myself go and do it. In the almost 3 months, I've only missed 3 days of exercising. One day was because of my kidney stone procedure, and the other two days were because I had afternoon appointments after work that caused me to get home just a bit too late to hit the routine.

People think you need to do all this radical stuff to lose weight when really, it's not all that difficult. Yes, I am making sure that I exercise every day, usually 30 to 35 minutes Monday thru Thursday and 60 to 75 minutes on Friday thru Sunday. But as far as food intake, I have been watching how much I eat, but for the most part, I haven't really changed WHAT I eat. People seem to think you have to eat nothing but plain white rice and kale salad or something, but so long as you are active, you can still pretty much eat what you want. Yes, I have cut back considerably on sweets and stuff, and like I said, I did cut back a bit on just how much I was eating, but other than that, there haven't really been any changes to my diet. Now sure, if I changed my diet significantly, I would probably lose more weight at a faster pace, but I'm pretty happy with my progress so far.

And overall, I just feel better. I've needed to make this change for a long time and I'm glad I actually did.

I really need to start exercising again. Not really to lose weight (6'2" @205lbs) but just to get back in shape. Its starting to affect me at work. Sore back, knees, etc. Just typical getting older stuff, but I'm not ready to accept it yet.

The hardest part is just starting the routine. Once you get yourself into it, it isn't really all that bad. That's why I kept putting it off, but now it's just part of my day's routine. We have a pretty decent treadmill and a rowing machine at home. I'd like to get a stationery bike too at some point. Nothing like those ungodly expensive Peletons or anything like that, just a decent one that will last more than a few months.

I'd love a rowing machine. I'm too mobile (travel) though...

Mine's a pretty basic one and it's not all that bulky really. Not really portable, but it's not like the professional types you would see at a gym or something.

EDIT: Here's the one I have. I believe this model is no longer made, but Amazon showed a similar one that I assume was the updated model.

    Love rowing machines.

I remember hearing Gerald Butler credits the row machines for how jacked he got for 300.... I'm sure personal trainers, dieticians and some gym candy played a part too, but I still tell myself to go ham like Leonidas when I'm rowing now

I don't use it as much as I should, I'm mostly on the treadmill. But it definitely feels good after a good 30 minutes on the rowing machine.

funny, my dad and I had exactly the same surgeries (except enough years apart that I had a 4cm incision vs his 6 inch incision) and he's been a row guy forever, but me, it'll destroy my back really hard and really fast getting on a rowing machine. probably has something to do with that lack of a spinous process on my L5

went and played disc golf yesterday after work, wound up switching my grip to a thumb & forefinger one - used a 4 finger grip off the tee on 2 and owwwww, nope. my ligaments take 2 months to heal when I fuck them up. still didnt do too badly, missed 2 inexcusable birds but had half a dozen bird attempts from inside of ~50 feet for the round.
