Agree completely, but it seems that even with nearly unlimited budgets and a bazillion unmade scripts out there, all Hollywood can come up with is remaking every movie that has ever been made.

The Wizard of Oz was made 3 times before the 1939 version with Judy Garland. Of course, two of them were silent movies, and one was a Canadian animated film.

Cronenberg's version of The Fly in the 80s was a remake of the 1958 version. (Some people say the 58 version's better. I haven't seen it)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) was far superior to the '56 version, and the '93 version. I haven't seen the 2007 version (yep, The Invasion with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman is an adaptation of the Body Snatchers novel by Jack Finney)

Pacino's Scarface was a remake. The original was made in 1932.

Technically speaking, Arnold's True Lies is a remake of a French film called La Totale!

Carpenter's The Thing was a remake.

So? The bad remakes FAR outnumber anything that was done better. The point is that Hollywood can't come up with any new ideas.

Yeah, I would never pay for it, but for free? I'll take it. Crime has gone up A LOT in my neighborhood in the last year, from porch pirates all the way up to vehicle break-ins and thefts. Extra deterrent can't hurt.
