Yesterday I swapped all the stock Alpine speakers for some high end Kenwood in the Challenger. Original plan was to later in add a 6 channel amp and a subwoofer. Today I swapped the front brake pads with some that hopefully don't make as much dust. After that it went for a cruise.
I may not add an amp or subwoofer after all. Sounds pretty damned good now.

The bitch actually just wanted to 'exchange info' and go on their way. The wife insisted no, and called the police instead. The worst part was waiting for the cop, that took almost 45 minutes because it was a Saturday night, so they were already busy with normal weekend night issues. When the wife first talked to the stupid bitch, she was trying to claim it wasn't her fault because she "had her blinker on" and somehow that gives her the right of way to pull into oncoming traffic from a side street with a stop sign onto a street with no stop sign? Then after her husband showed up (and I'm guessing he told her to say this), suddenly her story was that my wife was driving with no headlights. The wife's vehicle, if it's on, ALWAYS has the fucking headlights on, day or night, it's automatic. Luckily, the cop knew that because his wife has the same vehicle. We were cut loose pretty quickly, so I don't know what happened to the bitch, but at the minimum I'm guessing that she got a ticket for the accident plus driving without insurance. The cop was still dealing with her when we were leaving. All the cop wanted from us was the wife's license, registration, and proof of insurance. He asked her side of the story (he got the bitch's version first), and after talking to the wife, he said he was going to go get the bitch's info to give us and then we could go, so pretty sure the cop knew she was a stupid fucking bitch. Unfortunately the cop said it will be several days before his report will be available online to us. I definitely want to see what she got written up for.

Even if the bitch would have had valid insurance, I think we would have an uphill battle. The "proof of insurance" she gave the cop was 2 months expired and was issued by one of those "we insure anyone" insurance brokers that I've never heard of before and the company that issued the expired policy was some insurance company I have never heard of before. So I'm guessing that even if the insurance was valid, it was the absolute state minimum for coverage, which is ridiculously low considering how much it costs to get cars fixed anymore. Luckily we have good insurance with high coverages and it's through State Farm. And so far, they've been awesome. They already called the wife yesterday morning after she submitted the accident claim through the app early yesterday.

The sheet metal from the fender was REALLY close to the tire, so I was worried that if she tried to drive it and had to make a turn it would cut the tire down. Luckily I was able to pull the fender out enough so she could at least drive it home (the accident happened barely 1/4 mile from our house). But the fender was fucked up enough now that it interferes with the door, so you can't open the driver side door at all. They're supposed to send a tow truck today to take it to the body shop to get the estimate worked up and get the work started. We're not getting multiple estimates because we are just using one of State Farm's preferred body shops.

Not in Colorado, they will give you a court date and a chance to prove that you had insurance at the time of the incident (accident, traffic stop, etc) and if you can't prove it, then you will be fined.

And yes, we carry that coverage, we have 250/500 coverage for uninsured/underinsured drivers. But see, there's also something that pisses me off to no end. By law, you are NOT supposed to drive without insurance and must carry at the very least, an insurance policy that covers the state minimum coverage limits. So if that's the law, then why do I need to carry uninsured/underinsured coverage on my policy? I agree more with your law in Georgia where they arrest people for having no insurance. I would even go one step farther and impound their vehicle and make it so that they cannot get it back until they provide proof that they have paid for at least one year of insurance. You lose your privilege of paying month-to-month for insurance when you get caught breaking the law.

Colorado law is bullshit. You're right. Theoretically, you shouldn't have to carry uninsured/underinsured, but unfortunately, people are ignorant, unreliable, and selfish, and that creates the need for it.
