Well, the republicans finally got their shit together and voted McCarthy as Speaker. But one thing during all of this made me think...you know you always hear that the Speaker of the House doesn't technically need to be someone that is serving in the House. Okay, say someone out of left field were to be nominated and actually win the Speakership. That position is third in line of succession to the presidency. So I would assume that anybody ineligible to be President couldn't be Speaker? Or what happens if this person from left field is voted into the Speakership, could someone actually not currently serving in government become President like that? I would think that would be a huge can of worms.

That only discusses people that aren't Constitutionally eligible to be POTUS (i.e. foreign born persons). What if the person that was voted in as Speaker was Constitutionally eligible to be President (met all of the conditions set forth in Article II) but came from outside of politics?

For example, as a bit of a far fetched idea, what if all the republicans had gotten together and voted Dwayne Johnson as Speaker of the House? He meets the age requirements and the citizenship requirements, but other than winning the vote to become Speaker, he hasn't been voted into any office by the people nor was he a Presidential appointee to any position.

If the Speaker satisfies the requirements to become President, then if the Pres and the VP both croak or are removed or whatever, then the Speaker becomes Pres.

I'm really abusing my car right now because I don't want to pay what the service people want to charge. It's times like these that I wish my dad taught me more about car maintenance. He could do it, he just never bothered teaching my brother and I how to.

Yeah, I wish I knew more too, but I neither have the place to really do a lot of work on my truck nor do I really have the spare time to do it. Plus, I'm not guaranteed to fuck something up either

I did get the estimate plus there were other things that needed to be done. Gonna be $2K for everything. Would have been almost $3K but I declined some things. But I haven't really taken care of the truck like I should be doing, so it needs to get done.
