I didn't, but my Canadian owned company, which is staffed mostly by Hispanics here are taking off half day tomorrow and full day Monday. Holiday weekends here at work are binary. Either busy as hell or dead as hell. I'm hoping for slow, but planning for busy.

Besides, Hal always did believe I worked for one of the Alphabet groups.....

That's cool you get Family Day on Monday! It's such a funny arbitrary holiday. I'm not complaining, but they just invented it a few years back for the hell of it

I think we're up to 11 holidays a year here which is awesome. We've done quite a bit of studying around productivity and found one day off in any given week as no impact provided people are aware the closure is coming up a couple weeks out. We've started just closing a few random Fridays during the summer because it's a huge retention/talent perk working here and the war on talent is very real, little stuff like a couple extra days off makes a difference. I'm hoping we just lean in and go 4 day/32 hour work weeks since all the stats prove we can do it. HR is on board, it's just a few stubborn execs holding out. Our VP of HR told me we just need more employees to keep asking for it to get it over the line. A few essential services need to be staffed but that's easily managed by having half of those teams take a different day off.

I just went down the youtube rabbit hole watching compilations of options day traders losing their asses in positions. You definitely don't want to be all reckless and uninformed.

Ya agreed there. Saw a guy who retired young from that game talking about it. Someone asked him why he doesn't still day trade. He basically said you'd be fucking crazy to do it from home. The guys who do it right have $30K/month subscriptions to bloomberg terminals and real time info, and are trading live on the floor in the NYSE where they can feel the market moving live, they're armed with real actionable intel.... The rest of us sitting at home on our computers watching BNN and reading Motely Fool just do not

The official holiday is Presidents day here in the states. I didnt know it was a Canadian holiday as well. Learn something new all the time.
Just to be clear, I'm not off.
The way my schedule works is as follows: I work 14 days, then I'm off 14 days (though two of the off days are travel days) if a holiday falls when I'm on shift, I dont get off, but I do get an extra 8hrs of straight time pay ( not overtime) I get paid time and a half for any work after 40hrs in a pay period (every 7 days) so my typical pay period is 40 hrs regular, and 44hrs overtime ( i average 12hrs/day usually, though lately its been 15hrs/day)

    Hey!
    Man, you're talkin' back me?
    Take him out!
    You gotta keep 'em separated.

You can say anything you like

Well.... Good news is I made it back to Ohio from S. Carolina. Bad news is, I need a new car. Transmission started slipping bad about 2.5 hours from home. I nursed it all the way back, but that last dead stop pretty much finished 'er off.

Freaked me the hell out when I pulled out of the last rest stop, barely managed to get up to speed, hit the cruise control and the trans slipped and redlined the engine. It was a LONG trip after that. 03 Odyssey with 188K on it. RIP
