I found out what the issue was. We changed payroll companies at the start of last year and they fucked up my withholding. I guess I should have noticed because I was getting more money in my paycheck, but I didn't look into it further. So they take 95% of the blame for fucking it up without me telling the m to change anything and I take 5% for not looking into it more.

The last few times I've stopped at Walmart, all the self-checkouts were closed and there were only cashier manned ones available. I am a big proponent of self-checkout because it's faster and I can bag my groceries the way I want. Plus, I don't need to interact with people which is the biggest plus. So now the checkout time has tripled on my last 2 visits (from 5 minutes or less to 15 minutes both times I had to go to a manned register to check out). Well, after one of my recent visits I got the chance to fill out an email survey about my last visit and I bitched about the self-checkouts being closed and I actually got a response.

personally it depends what I've got in my cart, or how much of a rush I'm in. if I'm in a grocery store and I've got vegetables, fuck looking all that crap up

Hilarious. I had a full trolley full of supermarkets goods this evening and I had to check it out myself. Hated it.

At most of the grocery stores here, the produce all have stickers with barcodes on them that the checkout can read, so it's not a big deal.

I can still do it faster even if I have a cart filled with groceries. Not to mention that they only have 3 or 4 manned lanes open while the bank of self-checkouts had 10 stations. Although I am sure that theft at self-checkout is an issue.

my grocery store has this fkn scale on it and it knows how much items weigh, you're under surveilance to the point where if you have 3 of the same item and scan the one with the good bar code and toss the shitty bar coded one onto the scanned items, it fkn knows.

superlatively annoying, this is the real thing that makes me not use these damned checkouts. you cant just scan and toss, you have to scan slowly, wait for verification, cant scan next item too quickly...its a load of shit

Boys... got the 8-week ultrasound today and we have liftoff! There's a tiny little heartbeat and the radiologist confirmed everything looks good so far!!

My wife's been exhausted and dealing with some morning sickness, but other than some anxiety waiting for the ultrasound (she's been a bit stressed since the last pregnancy miscarried), she's doing awesome.

Still not going to tell family/friends for a few more weeks but the vibes are very, very high. I wasn't sure how I'd feel before the ultrasound but my face literally hurts from smiling like an idiot all afternoon and my wife is on cloud 9. Can't wait to tell my parents they're going to be grandparents.
