I don't really play the lotto. every now and then I'll buy a scratch off, and usually at least win my $ back. Good luck to those of y'all that do play, and if you win, I wanna new boat! lol

I bought $25 worth of tickets (autopick) for the Mega Millions back when it was $600 million. I didn't even win a buck so at the very least, I'm done with the autopick. But I've been watching some of the bi-weekly games down here, using the numbers as data sets to review Combinatorial and Prob/Stats concepts (it kinda sucks doing the same exercises over and over again), so I don't know. Sometimes it seems like there's a pattern, but it's always out of reach. Oh well.

I always say that if I could watch how the numbers are drawn over every single draw, then I could probably figure out a system that might win every so often. But I don't get to see the Georgia lottery draws (I'm in the Jacksonville, Florida TV market, even though I live in Georgia) and they don't list the numbers on the website exactly as they're drawn. They're always listed low to high and that's not how the numbers are drawn.

Today? Absolutely not. Maybe it was 30 years ago, but now everything is controlled by computers. Every random number generator algorithm I've ever run across has proven to be anything but random. Sure, it looks random, but the majority of them are usually tied to the computer system clock in some way or another.

I'm actually really good at figuring out sequence and series generating functions... it was one of my many specialities back in college. But then again, I could just be kidding myself. Everytime I think I see a pattern emerging, it changes. But then again, that could just be a part of it that I haven't figured out yet.

That's an engineering problem that I believe was solved a long long time ago. How they go about choosing the numbers drawn is what I'm trying to figure out.
