Mystery Has Bigfoot been caught on camera? Hiker captures footage of figure climbing mountain

By Jessica Haworth - The Mirror

Footage showing a suspected sighting of the legendary Bigfoot has gone viral overnight after it surfaced online.

The video was shot by Canadian hiker Myles Lamont who was scaling the Tantalus Range, north of Vancouver, with friends when they spotted the figure in the snow.

He shot the footage two years ago, and since he uploaded it to YouTube, the video has gathered more than 260,000 hits.

Lamont points out on camera that no human could walk that fast, or indeed would choose to hike up the tricky part of the mountain when there are easier ways to go round.

"If that's human, why would you walk up that ridge or that snow line?" He says. "Why would he not just go straight down?

"I don't know how high we are, but we're probably close to 7,000 feet and this guy's just scampering up snow lines like it's no big deal."

He pointed out that the 'Sasquatch' wasn't wearing any shoes, backpack or hiking gear and was wearing all one coloured clothing.

Movement of this kind would be extremely difficult and very fast for any human not equipped with specialist gear, he wrote on his YouTube page.

Lamont, who has encountered bears in the wild during previous hikes, does not believe this sighting was of a grizzly or any other wild animal.

He posted online: "We have encountered bears on the approach to this summit in the past, this video is most definitely not showing a bear or any other wild animal.

"Perhaps the most reasonable explanation for this video is a very ill prepared hiker, hiking up a difficult section of snowline as opposed to a much easier route, one who is very physically fit and able to cover ground in unusually quick fashion and must have had very large feet as we were breaking through snow crust in just our boots."

Legend has it that the Sasquatch is a huge, hairy creature who inhabits the forests and mountains, particularly in North America, and sightings of the alleged beast over the years have courted curiosity.

But Lamont claims he uploaded it to show a group of friends, not to generate so much interest in his footage of the supposed beast.

He wrote on his YouTube page: "We had no intention for it to gather the interest it has. We are not claiming this to be anything other than a strange encounter."
