Are you saying complete b******* in that that account completely dismisses individual choice? Where do you lie on the spectrum of individual responsibility and societal pressure?

I am indeed calling bullshit. The response is a choice. That explanation doesn't talk to societal pressure or mob mentalities, which are powerful influences. In the end, it's still a behavioral choice and I completely dismiss the idea that we create predictable eventualities in personal behavior. You're about to throw trauma stress and breaking points at me. Looting and burning a store is not the same as striking back at an abuser. It's more akin to being a petulant child.

I don't think there is one. Just an example (of millions ignored) of positive fatherhood.

Take away Trump, and we will probably agree on a lot

The only thing I have to add is the looters appear to have no-one to remind them of that individual responsibility. Then the mob rules and feeds itself.

My question: So are they looting and burning totally out of rage over the death of a black guy? Or are they just using that as an excuse to loot, burn and riot because they know there won't be personal consequences?

And don't get me started on individual responsibility. It seems everything these days is "we" and "us" and "our". Gender, political party, race, weather or not you like coleslaw.... It's all become group think.

The latter (but that's only part of the reason)

In fairness there are probably a lot more racist run ins with the police. These are just the ones that were filmed. So some of them might have had similar treatment first hand

The research is clear. Black men are more likely to be killed by an officer of color than a white officer.

We need to get that on a placard and out to those rioters, quickly!
