I guess this is the latest TikTok trend...people self-diagnosing saying they have DID (Dissociative identity disorder) which from everything I have read is an EXTREMELY rare disorder, yet if you search TikTok for it, there are thousands upon thousands of people that have self-diagnosed themselves saying they have it.

In pure form, very rare - I've never actually seen one. I had people who could name their alter egos and they had purposes, but real DID? Nope. And that video doesn't look real to me.

There are thousands of videos just like this one on TikTok right now. This trend is kind of dangerous IMHO. The whole 'it's trendy to self-diagnose my own mental illness' is dangerous.

Yeah, looks like a pimply insecure teen who spends too much time alone exploring her identity. Never come across the real thing, but I did come across a girl who wanted to be called a male name sometimes.

Only therapy can really diagnose, but very unlikely.

There's a whole world of influences out there now that weren't 10 years ago. It's a tough road to navigate. People say things like "shoot, I'd just tell my kid..." Yeah. Sure buddy... Lock them up in Rapunzels tower. Let me know how that works out. People with cavalier attitudes tend to have a huge seismic shift when they are actually confronted with real situations.

Everyone needs to be part of the dialogue. Thing is, the peeps that sell the screens and addictive content are not. It's an unsupervised world.

I think a simple step is to not give your kid a smart phone until 13 or 14.

That's definitely a step, but to think you can isolate them from influence with just 1 simple move is naïve.. You have to also isolate them from any friends and others that have not been isolated from what's out there.
Meaning no sleep overs, computers, interactive online video games, television, movies etc..
