    It gets worse! http://equitableapp.com/

PAY IT FORWARD ...AND THEN SOME

Dining out with friends and lacking in diversity? EquiTable automatically adds a Pay It Forward Surcharge for homogeneous groups. This suggested donation will help solve the wage gap, even if your meal won't.

Well, if the wage gap existed, which it does not. But in their delusions, I assume redistribution of expenses?

I'm always reminded of the old saying..... "A woman's work is never done!"

This the reason the don't get equal pay.

You meet someone. Shit's great. Pregnancy? No problems. We're in this together, right? The future suddenly has boundaries you hadn't anticipated. The responsibility has its own gravity, and it is far beyond that which you had previously experienced. Your differences are laid bare. Shit's not so great any more. You break up, but that child has a right to be taken care of...and it will be. Child support is coming for you, maybe.

    My Story

I met a cool chick. We clicked. I moved her into my condo and made her a part of my life. I trusted her, and I didn't want to see the red flags because we had a good thing (I thought). I worked 50-70 hours a week. I made good money. She offered to help me take care of the bills so I didn't have to worry. Awesome. We are partners!

Turns out she was stealing my money. Finally woke up. Gave her enough money to get herself an apartment. Kicked her ass out. Took a promotion and moved out of state.

A couple years pass. Met my wife. Shit's good.

Another 8 years pass (10 years since I kicked the cool chick out). I move back to the first state, and I stop by DMV to get a new driver's license. They won't give me a new license. I ask why. The DMV representative tells me that I have to call the number she just gave me to find out why. I call the number, "county child support services, please enter your case number or social security number to speak to a representative". I'm leaning against my truck, fading. What the fuck is this shit? I get the third degree. The representative won't answer any questions, but does tell me I am in serious trouble because I owe over $200,000 in back child support. '

I think I passed out. I came to in the seat of my truck, and I was still in the DMV parking lot. I had no clue what to do, so I did the only thing that I could think of: I called a lawyer. I didn't leave the DMV parking lot until well after dark.

Here is how shit went down:
    - I kicked her out and moved out of state.
    - She had a kid 14 months later.
    - She filed for public assistance and named me as the father.
    - The served me by mail to the address she gave them (the condo I had thrown her out of).
    - I didn't show up for court.
    - They served the support order to the same address.
    - I lived in 7 states over a 10 year period because I was a sales consultant (helped new businesses hire and train sales staff).
    - They were always a few steps behind me and I was hard to keep track of because I was a contractor paid via 1099 and everything was in my corporation's name.

    From lawyer forward:
    - My lawyer has all the documents, says "boy, she really did a number on you". In my most droll voice, "you don't say?".
    - Five court appearances over nearly two years. Thousands of dollars in retainer and appearance fees.
    - She admits she knew it wasn't my kid, but that doesn't matter because I did not contest paternity within the statutory time limit.
    - Judge rips her a new one in court, but someone needs to pay for the kid.
    - Find out she has been married to the biological father of the kid for 7 years.
    - Doesn't matter. Really? Yeah, really.
    - My lawyer finally works a miracle and gets them to settle for $30,000. What a fucking bargain!
    - Now I have to pay $700 a month, plus $50 towards back child support...for another year.

    From Child Support Agency forward:
    - It doesn't matter that I am compliant with the court order and have been for years, they still--randomly--suspend my driver's license because I have back child support. I have to pay my lawyer to remind them that I am compliant in order to get it reinstated.
    - They still hit my bank account--even though I am compliant with my court order.
    - They frequently make accounting errors that are ALWAYS in their favor. More lawyer fees.
    - They trashed my credit and refuse to, at least, make it reflect the fact that I am compliant with the court order.
    - I cannot buy a house, rent an apartment, finance a car, or get a good job without this being an issue. All because one person lied and I didn't know to catch it in time...

This shit is enough to make a motherfucker cynical...and it has. Now for you. Yeah, you. Going through a break-up and there is a kid (or pregnancy) involved? Protect yo self! Get a fucking lawyer. If you don't have the money, borrow it. Do whatever you have to do to have someone knowledgeable protecting your interests. Don't trust your ex. Ever. Not when the stakes are this high. Become George Carlin. Question everything. Challenge everything. I know you might feel bad about it, but do it anyways. You will be steamrolled if you don't. I can promise you that.

What about fairness, justice, right and wrong? You won't find much of that in a family law court, much less a child support agency. The law is a beast that can turn on anyone.

Disclaimer 1: Take care of your kids, people. I'm not advocating against that, but you must also take care of yourself.

Disclaimer 2: The $ amounts, timelines, and other details have been altered in order to keep anonymity at a maximum. Everything is relative.

Disclaimer 3: Not to be confused with actual legal advice. Get a lawyer!

TL;DR Met a cool chick and thought shit was great. Ejected her ass. Ten years later: surprise motherfucker. Child support for a kid that is not mine. Child support agency has their hand up my ass like a puppet. This shit happens. Protect yo self.
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.
