If you ever had some Alberta tenderloin, cooked on a BBQ (at my place because I'm AWESOME at it) ...you would never insult a steak by pan frying it again

This is Scotland, it rains for 355 days a year - barbeque's are kinda infrequent.......... and i stand by my initial statement, any grilling of steak will cause moisture loss

You spend a couple of thousand, get some plane tickets and visit here for a weekend. I'll BBQ some steaks and spuds and stuff....then you can make those uneducated statements.

    I'll buy the steak

Never ever ever stab the meat. Use tongs to flip it over.

You can pan fry the steak in a cast iron skillet to sear it and then throw it in the oven to cook it to your desired finish. Or you could throw it into the broiler and cook it at a ridiculously high heat (1800 degrees or so) (with butter, like they do at Ruth Chris's Steakhouse... the best damn steak I've ever had thus far). Or you could throw it on the grill if you wish... or if you're really hardcore, throw it in the smoker for about 12 hours like real barbecue is done.

Any way you choose, it should be room temperature when you start cooking it.
