It was the bong hit seen around the world.
Miley Cyrus opens up for the first time about last year's notorious bong scandal -- in which the 18-year-old Disney star was caught on camera getting loopy as she smoked salvia, a legal hallucinogen.
In a chat with Marie Claire, an interviewer notes that plenty of youngsters have been caught experimenting with substances both legal and not.
"But they're not Miley Cyrus," the Hannah Montana star points out. "They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."
The singer and actress also admits that the impending divorce of parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus after 17 years of marriage has been rough.
"Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family," she says. "But I have a lot of hope in our family and no matter what happens, we're gonna stay strong."
The March issue of Marie Claire hits stands Feb. 15.
