Nerds One day fantasy sports for money

Has anyone else played short term fantasy sports for money? I am quickly becoming addicted.

I got a free entry and did terrible on a golf tournament. Deposited $12 and won $18 on a $9 bet on the PGA Championship. First prize was $25,000.

I did a baseball one today for $3... complete disaster. Top prize was $100,000!

Then I entered tonight in a late game only one for $3 that pays $300 for first. I was in first for a while, but it's early. Currently 8th but still in the money @ $45.

I also have 2 teams set for golf this weekend. One was a free entry the emailed me, the other was $3. Top prize is $400,000!!

I am using Draftkings but there are others.

I am not nerding out or analyzing stats, going with my gut and having fun with it.
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.

haven't done it, probably won't. feel like an amateur has no chance against those that overload with entries

true. There are some that load up. Like the golf tournament this past weekend. 5 people maxed at 200 entries each.

The person who won the one I entered (MLB $250K Swing for the Fences) had one entry and won $100k.

Not doing so well, but the trend lines are positive. Hopefully I'll get better.

I am in the money on golf for this weekend so far, again positive.

Although I only play $1 or $3 contests, I reserved a spot in week one mega football contest. $20, first prize $2 million, 2nd place $1 million. I might need some help on that one.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I seriously fail to see how these things are legal. If internet poker is illegal, then there's no way that these one day leagues could be anything but.

The internet gaming law had a specific carve out for fantasy sports.

The law was written before one day contests existed. It was intended for leagues, I think, but spawned an industry.

There's no way they would have thought of doing that on their own.

There are some fascinating articles out there on its inception. FanDuel and DraftKings are the largest players.

its a total nonsensical argument, but in fact rbp is right legally.

they have decided that "games of chance" like bingo, slots, roulette etc are outlawed on the internet. they see poker as a "game of chance"

skill games, like apparently one day fantasy sports, are okay

most of the big names in the daily fantasy sports are former online poker wizards
