Most Americans are issues voters; I vote philosophy and existentialism.

In other news, how's that anti-gun thing going in the land of no school shootings? Oh wait, never mind, muh bad.

A good performer knows to play to the crowd. A bunch of Republican and Tea Party voters are Christian. The "religious right". That's who he's trying to win over. If he wins the Republican nomination, he'll take on a more Central-leaning conservative approach to get more undecided voters in the general election. That's how Presidential politics works in an election cycle when the incumbent can no longer run.

Correct, because the voters who show up for a Republican primary are largely evangelical Christians. The voter profile changes dramatically in the general.

Obama's not running, and you've got one black and two Hispanic nominees on the Republican side. You've got 3 white people on the Democrat's side: 1 no name Wonderbread white guy, 1 old and crusty, loud as hell white guy, and 1 white woman that lies out her ass and is up for an indictment. That old and crusty white guy is probably gonna take Iowa.

Obama skewed it further but minorities vote decidedly democrat regardless. The Hispanic vote can change more than the black vote. 2004, blacks went 88% for Kerry.

In 2004, a black candidate wasn't running. Some black people are gonna vote for Carson solely because he's a black guy. It won't put a dent into anything, but they'll still do it.
