Clarence Clemons, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band Saxophone Mainstay, Suffers Stroke

By Jenna Mullins - E! Online

    The Big Man is ailing.

Clarence Clemons, the iconic saxophonist of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, has suffered a stroke while at his home in Florida.

The 69-year-old rocker is said to be seriously ill after having the stroke earlier Sunday evening, according to several confirmed reports. There is no information yet on his current condition or the severity of the stroke.

Clemons was last onstage with Springsteen in December at Asbury Park's Carousel House.

More recently, he performed with Lady Gaga on the season finale of American Idol; he appears on two songs on Gaga's new album, Born This Way, including her new single, "Edge of Glory." Last week, he was scheduled to play the national anthem before Game Two of the NBA Finals, but had to cancel last minute due to a hand injury.

No comment has yet been made from Springsteen's camp.

I have HATED Bruce Springsteen's music for years, his voice and style is beyond repulsive. But about 15 years ago, Clemons put out a solo jazz album that was very cool, and a vast departure from the music he plays with Springsteen.

I wish him a speedy recovery!
