Two Adams County girls have been charged with underage drinking after they called the state police last week and asked for a ride home, troopers said.
The girls, ages 17 and 16, called the state police just after 1 a.m. on March 3 from a location in Mount Pleasant Township, police said.
The 17-year-old girl called the Gettysburg barracks and said a friend had dropped her off and now she and the 16-year-old girl needed a ride home, police said.
"Upon arrival it was determined that both juveniles had been consuming alcohol and (the 17-year-old) provided a false name to troopers," according to a news release from the state police.
Both girls were taken home and both were charged with underage consumption of alcohol. The 17-year-old girl was also charged with providing a false identification to law enforcement, police said.
