Sarah Palin is threatening to sue Azealia Banks over a series of NSFW tweets Banks sent out in response to a satirical article that claimed Palin said African-Americans “liked” slavery.
On Monday, Banks saw the article and went on a profanity-filled Twitter rant. In one of the now-deleted messages, captured by Breitbart, Banks tweeted she wished for Palin to be gang raped.
In one she wrote: “Honestly… Let’s find the biggest burliest blackest negroes and let them run a train on her. Film it and put it on worldstar.”
Others are so filled with profanity and vulgarities we could not include them.
Banks later insisted she was not insinuating she wanted Palin to be raped. Tweeting about an article from The Blaze about her rant, she wrote, "why are you using the word 'rape' i would never wish a woman to be raped. i said 'BANG' as in bang some sense into that h-."
Banks eventually issued a lengthy apology once she realized a satirical article had set her off.
The former Alaska governor posted a message on her Facebook account aimed at Banks, titled “Hey Female Rapper.” In the post she wrote, “Why don't we strengthen both our platforms and work together on something worthwhile - like condemning racism, along with empowering young women to defend themselves against a most misogynist, degrading, devastating assault perpetrated by evil men - rape.”
She also said she would scour her “young daughter's playlist” to be sure it did not contain any of Banks’ music.
Palin then issued a statement to People magazine, in which she vowed to sue Banks for the tweets.
"I've had enough of the unanswered threats and attacks against my family and me," she stated to People. "So, for the first time I'm going to enjoy the only retribution some protected 'celebrities' seem to understand – I'm suing Azealia Banks and can't wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long."
In an open-later published on her Tumblr account, Banks responded to Palin’s statements, apologizing for her hate-fueled rant.
“…Since learning that the article was not published officially, I sincerely apologize for any emotional distress or reputational scarring I may have caused you.
“In my honest defense, I was completely kidding. I happen to have a really crass, New-York-City sense of humor, and regularly make silly jokes in attempts make light of situations which make me uncomfortable… All in all, woman to woman, I hope you will accept my sincerest apology.”
However, Banks concluded the letter with lines that were less apologetic.
“P.S.: -I am an EXTREMELY intelligent woman, Mrs. Palin… Twitter is not real, neither is your opinion of me!... If Bristol Palin listened to my music she probably wouldn’t have all those [damn] kids!!!!”
