Apple has reported a decline in sales of the iPhone for the first time in the smartphone’s history.

Apple analysts predicted this week that the tech giant would report its first-ever drop in sales on Tuesday night as they warned that the iPhone 7 did not have enough ‘attractive selling points’ to beat out its rivals.

The tech giant said today it had sold 51.2million iPhones in the first three months of 2016.

This was down on the 61million sold a year earlier.

Revenues fell short of expectations to $50.6billion (£34.7).
