Kinda sums up the riots, and how the playoffs went... A Tale of Two Cities (Vancouver and Boston)
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way
- in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Make no doubt, had it gone the other way Beantown would have certainly been on fire.
I doubt it... there weren't 100,000 people invited out for a party without enough police to control them in Beantown
Vancouver kinda dropped the ball on that one...
Feel bad for Van. I was there for the Olympics last year, masses of people, behaving decently, a good time had by everyone.
I'd make a special point at how decently Van treated the disabled athletes who came in for the Paralympics. I noticed a lot of fan support, and a lot of genuine effort to make these folks feel welcome.
In general, Van is a friendly and civilized place. Hockey just does get fans riled up on occasion, sometimes when they lose, sometimes when they win (little known fact: the "Miracle on Ice" US 1980 team went on a rampage in Lake Placid after winning the gold)
Put a lot of drunk people in one place and stir their emotions, and something crappy can easily happen.
