    Fix Emergency/Bug Out Kits?

Any of you guys into prepping at all?

I've read so many interesting articles on it the last few years but never pulled the trigger. Biggest threat in my area is Earthquake. I know some plan for long-term societal collapse too, which is sort of beyond my intention

Just ordered some supplies on Amazon as we're getting a big storm here in the next 3-days. Once it all arrives, my home kit will now includes:

    - Solar & Hand cranked radio/flashlight/usb charger with 1000 mAh power bank
    - 90+ piece first aid kit
    - Couple pocket knives/multi tools (no axe though, considering that)
    - 36 hours of rations
    - Water bottles
    - Water purification tabs (not a purification system though - again thinking about that, be we have lots of fresh creeks nearby)
    - Lighters
    - Headlamps and extra batteries
    - Long burning candles
    - Parachord bracelet with firestarter, whistle, compass
    - Some spare cash and change
-Backpacks for it all in case we have to move, and some extra clothes could fit too.

I also own a Ruger 10/22 with about 1500 rounds of ammo and three mags... probably never use for it, but you never know. My parents live in the mountains, could probably snag a few small animals with it near their house if things got real dire. My plan would be to take my wife and head there. More remote, lots more running water nearby than in our downtown townhouse

What else do you guys recommend? Any other completely different thoughts?

Hey GF - stay safe. Looks like we are in for a bashing weather-wise. I remember when I first bought my townhouse in 1997 we had one of these major wind events. Very scary - I could hear the whole roof creak and snap all night long! We lost a bunch of shingles.

Extra batteries for your cellphones.... or a few burner phones (if you're trying to disappear, that is)?

    Porn.

And you didn't list anything for heat or cooking. Do you have a fireplace and firewood?

I have a propane cabinet heater in case the power goes out in winter.

I might not be able to outlast many others if I hunkered down for the long haul, but I'd be able to effectively defend myself initially for a short time.

I doubt I'd last long if I had to actually bug out.

I was just laughing thinking about you walking into a store and buying heavy duty gloves, plastic sheeting, duct tape, rope, a knife and a shovel.
